We are not in the business of creating throwaway fashion and home decor. We are in the business of producing quality design articles that are multipurpose and last for a long time.
Natural and recycled materials
We value sustainability by using natural and recycled materials that can be sourced locally and their origin tracked.
Take our ornaments for example; they are made out of fallen jacaranda tree branches so we never cut trees to make them.
Transparent supply chain
Our supply chain is completely transparent. We know who makes each of our products and in what conditions the artisans work. Mifuko also makes sure that the working conditions of the artisans meet all fair-trade standards.
Through Mifuko, the artisans receive 50 per cent advance payments on orders, and the remaining 50 per cent is paid when the products have been finished and shipped.
We work relentlessly with our artisans and partners to ensure everyone understands and agrees to our quality standards and ensure our products stay clean while in storage and during transportation.
Before shipping an item to you we have inspected it twice to ensure the quality meets our standards.
We are proud to call ourselves supporters of a radical sustainable philosophy that addresses problems of sustainability through a bottom-up approach - a form of "grass roots" sustainability. Radical sustainability advocates and supports autonomous development, indigenous movements, women’s rights, social justice and green practises. (Source: Wikipedia)
Reducing our carbon footprint
To fight climate change and to decrease the carbon footprint of shipping Mifuko Trust, our non-profit charity organization, plant trees in Kenya with some of our donations. Our aim is to have zero emissions for our transportation within a few years by planting lots of trees in Kenya.
And planting trees is only one activity we do with Mifuko Trust.
