Milulu grass

Iringa basket with lid | Natural S

Our unique small square baskets feature a lid you can easily slide up the strap to reach into the basket. Small basket is big enough to fit A4 unfolded. Pack your sketching pad and pencils and head out to find your inspiration.

Iringa baskets feature Finnish design and the traditional weaving technique of Iringa, Tanzania. The fusion of Tanzanian handicraft and Nordic elegance supports women through flexible, safe work and extra income for families and communities.

Handmade natural colour Iringa basket with lid is woven from milulu grass that grows along riverbanks in Tanzania. The milulu grass is carefully harvested and dried before weaving into beautiful, robust baskets.

The colour of milulu grass changes over time. When the basket is first woven, the grass has a shade of green. Over time, the colour will change from green to brown as shown in the product images. This process typically takes 1-2 months.
