Milulu grass

Iringa market basket | Natural M

Iringa baskets look fantastic in any room where they can be used to store everything from toys to newspapers, magazines, loo rolls and even keep your blankets tidy. These Tanzanian handmade baskets are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Produced by talented weavers working as part of a Kwanza collection cooperative, they are woven from durable Milulu grass.

The fusion of African handicraft and simple yet elegant Nordic design supports women in Tanzania´s rural villages by providing flexible, safe work. The extra income the weavers earn improves the wellbeing of their families as well as their communities while supporting women’s empowerment and preserving traditional handicraft techniques.

We are a certified member of the World Fair Trade organization and each of our baskets is signed by the artisan.

Radically sustainable

Mifuko baskets weave together timeless Nordic design and traditional African handcraft. Each unique item is a work of hands and hearts, beautiful yet durable. As a beautiful detail each of our bags is signed by the artisan who made it. We want their stories spread to all homes.
