In February, we are celebrating friendships and wanted to share with you some friendship stories from Mifuko. In the first blog we took a deeper look at how Mifuko was launched from the friendship between our founders Minna and Mari. For this second blog we interviewed two friends, Faith and Sabeth, to learn about their friendship.
Faith Nzeve and Sabeth Ndaka have been friends for eight years, they met during a general meeting for Mifuko weavers. They say that their love of weaving baskets brought them together and they have been friends ever since.
When asked about the secret behind their long friendship, Faith and Sabeth both had the compelling answer that no matter what their differences are, they make it a priority to figure things out. Faith says that the best thing about their friendship is that Sabeth is very helpful in every way. She gives parenting advice, and Sabeth is always there for her during tough times. Sabeth says that Faith always corrects and calls her out on her wrongs in a very respectful and loving manner. They say that their friendship is very dear to both of them.
We asked the duo if they ever weave together, and they answered Yes! in unison of with big smiles. Faith and Sabeth say they typically weave together in the shade of mango trees; they talk about their families and farming while weaving the Kiondo baskets. Both Sabeth and Faith began their weaving journey at Mifuko. Faith has been weaving for since 2010, while Sabeth has been weaving for eight years, since 2014. They have not looked back since.
