Recycling Instructions

Mifuko products are designed to last

Before recycling, please consider whether the product or its parts could still be reused or repurposed.

Step 1: Disassembly

Remove the handles and the fabric Mifuko label from the basket.

Step 2: Woven basket body

The woven basket body can be recycled according to its material as follows:

Paper (paper twine):
Recycle in paper collection.

Plastic:
Recycle in plastic collection according to local guidelines.

Sisal, raffia, banana fibre, or other natural fibres:
If the basket body is made of a single natural fibre and does not contain other materials, it can be disposed of as bio waste.
If bio waste collection is not available, dispose of it as mixed waste according to local guidelines.

Wool or wool blend:
Dispose of as mixed waste, unless accepted by local textile recycling schemes.

Multiple materials in the same basket:
If the woven basket body contains more than one material that cannot be separated, the basket should be disposed of as mixed waste.

Step 3: Handles

Leather is a durable and long-lasting material that helps extend the product’s lifespan. Household recycling of leather is not currently available in Finland, so leather handles should be disposed of as mixed waste.
However, we encourage reusing the handles, for example in crafts or other creative projects.

Step 4: Fabric parts

Small fabric parts, such as the Mifuko label, should be disposed of as mixed waste.
